Romeo Explosion dominant in the Stondon Stayers
Trying their luck at the £175 prize money are, Oldroad Bluebell, Duty Extra, Unlikely Prince, Shambo Shine, Darket Misty and Romeo Explosion. The Grade OR Stondon Stayers will be staged at Henlow over 692 metres flat on Thursday, 22nd November.
Majority of the participants in the race tonight have introduced themselves at the level.
The 2 to 1 entry for tonight, Romeo Explosion, had his last three outings at the open level. The G. Coney trained could not squeeze anything extra ordinary out of it, but has the level exposure and the racing technique up his sleeve.
The rest of lot could not manage what he could gain from the last three tries.
Breaking out of the first trap will be, Oldroad Bluebell.
Token Prince’s son ended third in the williamhill.com St Leger 1st Round Heat 7 on 3rd November, 2012 at Wimbledon over 687 metres.
His slow break from the fifth trap did not give him the chance to set into a pace that could have been compatible to that of the runner-up or the winner. The race was won by, Goa Girl, in 42.28 seconds who led the rest of the lot by 2 ¾ lengths.
The three-year-old out of, Fabulous Star, then failed to the same third position in the williamhill.com St Leger 1st Quarter Final on 10th November, 2012 at Wimbledon over 687 metres.
He broke from the same trap that he has drawn for tonight. Once again his break from the gate was not as smooth and strong as it should have been. Owing to that, he ended third after taking 42.37 seconds.
The race was dominated by the fifth trap, Ballintine Molly, who raced across the wire in 42.34 seconds.
His last attempt was truly dreadful as he ended fifth in the second semi-final of the williamhill.com St Leger on 17th November, 2012 at Wimbledon over 687 metres.
He could not break free from the crowd in time and lost it to the second last position.
The race was landed by, Blonde Reagan, in 41.90 seconds.
Racing out of the sixth trap is nothing new for him and working on the way he breaks from the trap will help him.
