Why would this version of Romeo & Juliet appeal to modern audiences ?

  1. In this version, Luhrmann sets it in a modern day city. He tries to grab people's attention by having it in a city. He also gives the characters guns instead of swords. Luhrmann also uses the two feuding families but instead makes it appear as 2 waring businesses run by Montague and Capulet. He also tries to use music that was popular at the time.
