Romeo Patrol and University Man joint favourites in Betfred ‘The Bonus King’ Stayers Trophy
A tough competition between Romeo Patrol and University Man is expected in Betfred ‘The Bonus King’ Stayers Trophy at Nottingham in England on Monday, June 25, 2012. The Grade OR event has a cash prize of £200.
Stamina will be the determining factor in the 680 metres event, which is scheduled to start at 20:51 GMT. Although there are some decent runners lined up for action, the victory will definitely go to either one of the two favourites.
Looking at the experience and recent performances of Romeo Patrol, it seems that no one will be able to stand in his way today. He has won 10 out of his previous 14 races in this class, which shows the kind of momentum he is carrying at the moment.
The D. Firmager’s trainee has got an excellent stamina and the longer distance to cover in the race will work in his favour. He made his debut last year and started off with some decent performances in trial events.
Afterwards, the brindle dog participated in a few Grade OR events, but was unable to win straight away. His first victory came when he first ran in a race of more than 500 metres. Despite not being rated as the favourite to win back then, he dominated the
proceedings and took the top spot by more than three lengths.
In his most recent outing, Romeo Patrol finished third after a thrilling battle in The Coral Regency – Final at Hove. He was a touch unlucky, getting crowded at the start, but managed to give a tough time to his rivals.
Collision’s son out of Fabulous Airport will be a tough nut to break at Nottingham and he is a very good choice for the bettors to risk money on.
However, things might not be as simple as they appear for the favourite runner, as he will be a given a tough time by University Man.
The M. Roberts’ trained hound is a regular at Nottingham and will be fully aware of the conditions at this venue. He has got a lot of experience and is carrying the winning momentum right now. He has won his previous two races in this class and will be chasing
a hat-trick of victories today.
