Romeo Patrol dances his way to victory in The Carling British Bred Standard Trophy at Nottingham on Jan 30
The son of Collision, out of Fabulous Airport, Romeo Patrol, cruised to victory in The Carling British Bred Standard Trophy, hosted by Nottingham on Monday, January 30, 2012.
The 500 metre long Grade Open Race (OR) Heat kicked off at 21:37 (local time). Fifis Romeo, Collision’s son out of Fabulous Lourdes, turned in an all out effort to nab the first spot, but could not surpass his half brother.
Romeo Patrol eventually sealed the top position, clocking the distance in 30.17 seconds. With the 4 to 6 betting odds, D. P. Firmager’s trainee was the most favourite hound in the competition. The brindle dog lived up to his high repute, earning him
a prize of £200.
Fifis Romeo managed to stand second, losing the contest by a short heat’s margin. The C Allsopp-trained dog, who was holding the odds of 3 to 1, gained a near line advantage to lock the runner-up place. Courtesy of his clear run, it took him 30.18
seconds to finish the party.
The third place went to another 3 to 1 odds holder, Mays Stewart - Zigzag Stewart’s son out of Valentia Show. Trained by L Troughton, the hound made it to the winning post in 30.35 seconds, falling 2 ¼ lengths adrift of the runner-up.
Born Free, finished fourth on the table, covering the area in 30.51 seconds. Her starting price was 7 to 1, as she commenced her run from the third trap. By a deficiency of a couple of lengths, the fawn b***h could not end up among the top-3.
The fifth and sixth slot respectively belonged to Inky Blaze, and Mill Luciano. The fifth placed hound, holding the chances of 6 to 1, crossed the wire in 30.71 seconds.
Mill Luciano was the least favourite contestant, carrying the winning possibility of 14 to 1. The black dog completed the order of finish, taking 30.83 seconds to wrap up the party. Despite his clear run, he was unable to do anything special on the
track.
The two brothers sealed top two positions in the race, as Romeo Patrol was the star of the show, registering his first triumph of the year. His connections would aim for consistency to ensure more victories.
