Romeo Recruit well on his way to unprecedented success in the Betfred Eclipse – Heat 2
The two-year-old black dog, Romeo Recruit, gets the nod for succeeding in the second heat of the Betfred Eclipse on Friday, 16th November, 2012 at Nottingham over 500 metre flat. The total prize money set for the race is £150. The blue trap will
be accompanied by five more contenders over the same trip.
Romeo Recruit has been unbeaten in his last six open races. All the trips were over 500 metres and all of them were at Nottingham. The two-year-old took off from different traps, but remained in the realm of the first three boxes.
Bombastic Shiraz’s son bagged the prize money of the Magners Gents Standard Trophy on 27th August, 2012. It took the first trap 29.80 seconds to make it to the other end of the wire while setting Head Iton Eoin adrift by four lengths.
The D. Firmager trained struck a hat-trick on 17th September, 2012. He raced in the blue of the second trap and despite becoming the victim of getting crowded, the two-year-old led in for the wire from the first position, making to it in 29.99
seconds.
He won by a staggering 9 ½ lengths, setting Tricky Like That in the second slot.
His most recent visit to the winner’s enclosure was in the final of the Produce Stakes on 8th October, 2012 at Nottingham. Leading from the third position, the third trap completed the trip in 29.61 seconds. The favourite entry had the final 2
¾ lengths in his favour which set Story Time as the runner-up of the event.
The 11 to 8 entry will once again race in a blue vest. One out of his three training sessions had him racing from the third trap, but the trip was over 305 metres. He ended the task in 17.85 seconds.
With the advantage of the first trap is, Jazz Apollo, while breaking from the sixth gate will be, Swift Freeze.
Bidding for a back-to-back tonight is the Charlie Lister trained, Killieford Khali, who is backed by 7 to 2 odds, and has drawn the fifth trap to race out from tonight.
The race will be a grueling one for every contender.
