  1. Each one is what they die for.

Romeo dies for his love of Juliet - he can't bear to live without her.

Mercutio dies protecting Romeo - he can't live in a world where his friends are hurt.

Tybalt dies trying to avenge himself against Romeo - he can't live with Romeo slandering him.

  2. Here are links to a couple of study guides about the play. They should help you. Also do a search here in the Yahoo Answers search window for Romeo and Juliet as hundreds of questions have been asked here about it, and those Q's and A's should also help you.

  3. Well I can't really remember too well but I remember Romeo's focus of love was especially evident when he fell in love with Juliet so incredibly fast. Also, his love overshadowed everything else with led to his downfall. It didn't allow him to think straight. Mercutio's focus of loyalty was evident when he stepped in for wimpy Romeo and got himself killed by Tybalt. Tybalt's focus of revenge was evident when he was bothering Romeo about wanting to fight so much. Tybalt's focus also led to his death. All three of these character's "focus's" led to their ultimate death.

  4. Romeo passed on many opportunities to fight simply because that's not what he was out for.  After Romeo marries Juliet, Tybalt attempts to fight and him and Romeo wants to bury the hatchet because he is now family.  Tybalt beats him with Romeo barely attempting to defend himself.  This bothered Mercutio because he IS a fighter and only loyal to the Montagues.  Being the best friend of Romeo, Mercutio understands that Romeo is in love but could never stop fighting in the name of Montague.  After Romeo meets Juliet, he pretty much turns a blind eye to the battles because love is his priority.  Throughout the play, Tybalt's only focus seems to be on revenge.  He has the same fighting spirit as Mercutio but it is more relentless.  He fought just because he saw a Montague.  He was never really "defending" the Capulets.  It was always "and eye for an eye" with him.  That's just my opinion.  Good Luck!!
