  1. Here are links to a couple of study guides about the play. They should help you. Also do a search here in the Yahoo Answers search window for Romeo and Juliet as hundreds of questions have been asked here about it, and those Q's and A's should also help you.

  2. No, it is just like another chapter in a book. It could be that the setting, mood, or characters have changed. For example, in the beginning of Act II it is the night after the party when Romeo meets Juliet. Later in that act it is the next morning. Then acts III and IV take place on the same day. Act V is the next day still.

I tried to find mention of what day the play starts, but I could not. The final day, the day of Juliet's funeral and the double suicide is on a Wednesday.  I cannot tell if the play is 3 or 4 days. It seems like a lot happens in a short amount of time, like the play should really be longer. It reads like Juliet is supposed to be married Wednesday, they find her "dead," Romeo travels back from banishment, they plan and execute her funeral, and Romeo finds her, kills himself, and she wakes up and kills herself on the same day. That's crazy!

But I can tell you that the different Acts are not separate days, the proof is in Act II.
