http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604, in the semi-final of the Champions League.
Talking about the game against his former club, the 20 year old insisted that Chelsea have got what it takes to take on the Spanish giants, and pointed out that the Blues game against the Camp Nou side in 2009 is a proof of that.
Chelsea came agonizingly close of beating Barcelona in the semi-final two years ago, but were denied by a stoppage time strike from Andres Iniesta, in the second leg at Stamford Bridge.
"[Chelsea] demonstrated in 2009 that they can beat Barcelona," Romeu told Spanish news agency Efe.
“I am fortunate to be in this position, but a Champions League semi-final is always special for any player, and even more so against a team like Barcelona.”
The Spanish footballer came to Stamford Bridge from Barcelona in August last year, after signing a four year contract with the Blues. So far, he has made 22 appearances for Chelsea, but is yet to get on the score sheet.
The Catalan midfielder observed that Barca will be a tough side to beat, given their splendid run in the European competition in the last couple of years. The reigning European Champions have won the Champions League three times in the last six years, and
have done particularly well against the English sides, having won all of their three finals against the Premier League teams.
However, Romeu remained hopeful that the Blues could surprise Pep Guardiola’s side in the semi-final.
"They have been at a spectacular level for many years. They do not lose ambition, nor the will to win, but we can beat them." He added.
The Spaniard also mentioned, that he is aware of the fact that he is likely to miss out a place in the starting eleven against Barcelona, but revealed that he is working harder than ever to develop his career at Stamford Bridge.
"I signed for Chelsea to improve and grow as a player and that's what I wanted - not necessarily to be in a Champions League semi-final, but to play games.”
