Romford: The Romforddogs.Com Maiden Marathon – Preview (Part 1)
The Romford greyhound racing track will host The Romforddogs.Com Maiden Marathon on Friday, January 27. It will be an Open Race of 750m category. The prize money for the event will be £200.
The six hounds, who are lined up to jump into the marathon, include Carden Twilight, Airforce Ka Ka, Rough Lass, Dippy Boy, Cagey Joe and Aero Venus.
Here we take a glance on some salient features and key stats of each of the hounds in a bid to determine the favourite ones. This analysis will also be helpful for the bettors to bet on the right dog.

Carden Twilight
Trained by M Wallis, Carden Twilight will break from trap 1. The black dog started his career on May 14, 2011. In the early days of his career, he posed to be a defensive racer, who used to finish third or second in most races. The dog bagged his maiden
victory in August, 2011.
So far, the son of Droopys Scolari and Twilight Fantasy has won just six races, and his last one came in December, 2011. As a whole, the hound’s success ratio does not make him the favourite for tomorrow’s event. However, he has potential to make comebacks
and trigger upsets. He may do it in the marathon as well.
Airforce Ka Ka
Airforce Ka Ka is a white and black dog trained by R Holloway. Made his debut on July 9, 2010, he has won just three races so far. His maiden victory came at least ten months after his debut, and the last one came about three races ago. This depicts
that the dog has been greatly inconsistent.
Bred by Flying Penske and Catunda Rumble, the hound is not likely to make any impact in Friday’s event. He may finish fourth or fifth after breaking from trap 2.
Rough Lass
Trained by M Dennis, Rough Lass ran her maiden race on February 21, 2011. The white and brindle b***h beautifully won her initial two races, and then finished third in the next four races consecutively. As a whole, she has won half a dozen races so
far.
By winning her last race with a huge margin of 4 ½ lengths, the b***h made the bookies realise that she can cause big upsets. She has run four races as a favourite hound so far.
The daughter of Ballymac Maeve and Charquest is likely to be a favourite for the marathon. After breaking from trap 3, she may finish first or at least second. The bookmakers will invest a reasonable amount on her.
In comparison with the two above-mentioned hounds, she is at advantage to thrive in the high-stakes race, which will attract a large number of spectators from Romford.
