Ron Artest ejected out of ‘Dancing with the Stars’: NBA News
Dancing is not Ron Artest’s cup of tea.
The Los Angeles Lakers forward aka Metta World Peace, who recently decided to show the extent of his abilities on the dance court, became the first celebrity to be ejected from the 13th edition of the ABC Dancing competition
on Tuesday.
The 31-year-old Artest was one of the 12 celebrity competitors in “Dancing with the stars” and faced the elimination of the contest after failing to receive a chance from the viewers. The elimination came on the back of Monday’s
performance in which the three judges Len Goodman, Carrie Ann Inaba and Bruno Tonioli gave Artest 14 out of 30 possible points, the lowest in the competition.
“Your footwork was atrocious. It was all sizzle, no sausage. It was ... not my cup of tea,” were the comments that Artest received from the head judge, Len Goodman, who was critical of Artest’s performance and also gave him the
lowest points among the three judges.
Metta World Peace appeared in the Jimmy Kimmel show with his dance partner Peta Murgatroyd after the elimination and had his excuse ready. While discussing about the performance on the show, World Peace told Kimmel that his toe
was the reason of his unsatisfactory performance;
“This toe doesn’t work, this one does. Toes not working! But still I’m good, I’m good!” World Peace said.
Metta World Peace was however appreciative of the effort of his partner Peta Murgatroyd, “Peta was great. I had a great time. I was just expecting the judges to see the effort and the entertainment,”
Metta World Peace received a tough competition from TV host Nancy Grace as both were on the verge of elimination. However, the combine votes booted off the Lakers star. The remaining celebrities in the competition are World Cup
Soccer player Hope Solo, Television personalities Carson Kressley and Ricki Lake, reality stars Kristin Cavallari and Rob Kardashian, actor David Arquette and author Chaz Bono.
The appearance is the show was another stint in the long list of unusual and sometimes eccentric activities by the Lakers star. It was only last week that Ron Artest’s wish to alter his name to Metta World Peace was granted. The
NBA player had filed a request three months back, but the court approved Artest’s identity change in the second hearing after they found some outstanding traffic bills in the first and advised Ron to pay them in order to get his name changed.
