  1. I think its a good trade for both teams... The Kings were not going to win the title with Artest or any other star they would have gotten for him... Houston hardly gives up anything except for a lump of cash, a vet, and 2 draft picks, and they gain one of the best defenders in the league (not to mention another 20 ppg scorer). Artest gives them an edge and a scariness that they never had.....

The Kings get a lot more money and cap space in order to make a big signing in 2009 or 2010. They can use this signing to build around Udrih, Martin, and the years they have left in Brad Miller.

Houston makes the Western Conference Finals next year and loses to the Hornets

  2. I think the Kings are dumb. They couldve gotten way more

  3. Rockets fan here. It's really depends. If the rockets go on to be legit title contenders (past the 2nd round) for the next few years then it might be ok for houston. But if Donte Green and that 09 pick turns out to be nice and artest turns out to be the artest of old, then houston might look dumb. Dont get me wrong i like ron-ron, it just that ALL houston teams (football, basketball, baseball) always sell out their teams' futures.

  4. Good idea bad trade. I think it helps the team but now you have 3 SF(t-mac,battier,artest) so now you need to figure out who is gonna start. i think they need to move Yao and get a better pg and a couple of post players. Camby on the rockets is a gaurenteed threat with either battier or artest on the bench. plus yao is going to get hurt in the 2nd part of the season and the rockets are going to have to re adjust with what big men they do have.

  5. At first, I thought it was a dumb move for Houston. Giving up Donte Green, one of the best players in the summer league and probably one of the best steals of the draft, and Jackson for Artest. It's good for the Kings because they can't handle Artest plus they get a rookie with potential. Houston doesn't need to strengthen the sf area as much as the center, pg, or pf positions. I'm guessing Battier will be benched, which isn't a bad idea since he'll bring great defense to the bench. Still, the Rockets had a rookie for a pf last year, even though he didn't do a bad job. All in all, I think it wasn't bad, but it was a very odd trade.

  6. T-Mac already brings issues into the locker room when things aren't peachy. so they add Artest to the equation? yeah...that's going to end great! *note sarcasm*

  7. that trade was good just look at the vets

    barry(great shooter)

    yao(good defender; fair scoring)

    tmac(excellent player)

    battier(good defender)

    artest(has great talent)

Alston(the best PG in the roster)

    Scola(going to be the best)

steve francis(if he gets healthy then the rockets would be feared...)

with all those players the rockets are going to top the lakers and hornets..

  8. Its a excellent trade(for the Rockets). Now the Rockets have a big man, whos also a great defender, at pf. Luis Scola is okay, but lacks Artest's athleticism and power. Plus, i think the Rockets have enough guards, and need more big men.

  9. man yo avatar man gona give me nightmares

  10. I can't see how the Rockets would go wrong there. With this trade the Rockets should be a feared team. Opponents would have to think twice before they decide to double team Yao Ming and T-Mac next time.

  11. Whyyyy didn't the lakers acquire him? It would've been a great addition to their defence.

  12. what is their lineup going to be?

    C yao

    pf scola

    Sf- Mcgrady

    SG artest

    pg alston

    b- battier

I dont get it they might have to get rid of battier because they got artest and they would have a situation justt like toronto last year when they split t.j. ford and calderon's minutes and plus they have mcgrady so their gonna have to move around some players to make this work.

    plus they signed brent barry.

    so What now?

they could trade battier to another team and get a solid bench right?

    they could make this trade:

    http://games.espn.go.com/nba/features/tr...

    then their lineup would be:

    C yao

    PF Scola

    SF Artest

    Sg Mcgrady

    Pg- Alston

    B  harpring

    b Barry

    B brooks

    B Head

    B Brooks

    B collins

Plus that cash would help them pay their luxury tax.

  13. Well you can figure 2 things . #1 He can help the team win or #2 brings in the if you can't beat the team , then rush the stands and beat up the fans attitude .

  14. The Kings got nothing, Bobby Jackson sucks, that donte greene who'ever the heck he is probably sucks. And the rockets are so good that in 2009 the Kings would have a crappy pick. So the rockets got the best of that cause now they got yao, tmac, and artest.

  15. For the Kings, it's a good trade. For the Rockets, it's a great trade. Here's why:

Ron Artest wouldn't have made the Kings a championship team. His character was poisoning the team attitude. He didn't want to play for the Kings anyway. So the only option was to unload him. They basically got two draft picks and an expiring contract for Artest, which is great for a team that's trying to rebuild.

The Rockets aren't looking to build up with young players. They don't have time to allow young draft picks to develop. So what they need are players in their prime or approaching their prime. Yao and T-Mac are reaching the high points of their career. The time is now if they want to win a championship. The acquisition of a great defender and a good offensive threat adds to the team. Artest is everything the Rockets need right now.

I don't think the Rockets will regret giving up Greene, even if he turns out to become another Jermaine O'Neal. By the time Greene becomes a star, Yao and T-Mac will be near the end of their careers. That would mean an even worse chance at a title than now. It's the same mentality as when they traded Rudy g*y away for Shane Battier. They need prime players, they're not trying to rebuild with promising players.

The way it stands now for Rockets starting lineup as I see it:

    C - Yao Ming

    PF - Luis Scola

    SF - Ron Artest

    SG - Tracy McGrady

    PG - Rafer Alston

    Sixth Men:

    Shane Battier

    Carl Landry

    Brent Barry

This means that at any given time on the floor, there's going to be at least one lock-down defender, a shot-blocker, and two scoring options. It looks great for the Rockets.

  16. Trade helps both teams. Rockets needed a  legit player to get over the hump known as the first round, Kings are continuing to rebuild and Artest is not apart of their future and neither does he wanna be. Bam both teams get what they want

  17. Great for Houston.

  18. Kings got the better part of the deal.

  19. Excellent trade and if your realistic he is the best option they had in acquiring a Good defender and forward.  If you think about all the other good players in that position have been signed.  Can't wait til next season!

  20. This was a GREAT trade for Houston. We can have a dominant defensive and offensive team next year. Yao, Tmac, Steve, Artest, Scola, Landry(if he signs), Brooks, Battier, Barry. Thats one HARDCORE team.

  21. Its a steal..... Dont know if it will work.

  22. good for the rockets, they will have a great defender

  23. Rockets got a headache!!! Kings got the better trade from the deal... Donte will be a scorer someday he will prove it... Artest sucks in all times!!!

    Edit:

Udrih (will show what he got this season, it's he's prime!)

Martin (the best player in the team)

Salmons/ Garcia (now that Ron is gone they will prove something better)

Thompson/Douby/Williams (will improve a lot this season)

Miller/Moore (good veterans to help this team)

and the bottomline is Donte Greene (Say a prayer that Donte Greene for Ron Artest is one day mentioned in the same breath as Jermaine O'Neal for Dale Davis.)

  24. Doesn't really matter because as long as Yao Ming is on the Rockets they will never advance far in the playoffs.  It's about time Houston fans realized that Yao is way overrated.

  25. Thats a good trade. Last year when we faced the Celtics in January and March we lacked defence and the Celtics was better than ours. Plus both times we faced them we were missing a superstar. In January we were missing TMAC and loss by 4 and in March we were missing Yao and we loss by 20. Yao was the dominant defence, but now he doesnt have to work as hard since he has Artest.

  26. pssh... Ron Artest is overrated in my opinion, but hey i could be wrong, but then again I'm right until they get out of the first round of the playoffs
