Along with Manchester United and Manchester City, Chelsea are linked with Lille midfielder Eden Hazard and Chelsea chief executive Ron Gourlay confirmed the news.
However, Gourlay revealed he did not intend on getting involved in a bidding war with English Premier League rivals. Hazard has claimed he has agreed terms with three clubs, but is not yet certain where he will end up in the summer transfer window.
Gourlay revealed in an interview:
“There are a number of targets out there and I'm not going to say whether he is one of not. We will identify the targets...and will make every effort possible to make sure they come to Chelsea.”
The Blues chief executive confirmed the club was in the process of identifying their targets for the summer. After winning the UEFA Champions League, they will be looking to bring in new faces to strengthen the squad which has been significantly weakened
by the departure of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Didier-Drogba-c11044.
The departure of Drogba has left a massive hole in the Chelsea squad, which will have to be filled by new signings. Amongst the names linked with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Eden-Hazard-c11863, with the midfielder so far failing to commit to one Premier League side.
Gourlay admitted the English sides were restricted in their signings due to the financial fair play, because of which the Blues would also have to monitor their possible new signings carefully before making a decision to sign them. He admitted there were
certain challenges involved in the process, which has made it that much more difficult to bring in new players as compared to before.
He continued:
“At the end of the day we have financial fair play and other football clubs are in the same situation as us. You have to meet certain criteria and while it differs for some European clubs on the basis of how they generate their revenues, certainly the
domestic teams are all audited the same way.
We know what the challenges are - we will have a valuation on a player and if we can't make that work we will drop out.”
