Ron Washington is central to Texas Rangers’ success – MLB Update
Texas Rangers are now in touching distance of their first ever World Series crown and pundits have agreed to the notion that had it not been for Ron Washington, the Rangers would not have made a return trip to the Fall Classic, especially after having lost
to San Francisco Giants in five games last year.
Taking his team into confidence after last year’s loss, Washington vowed that the team will come back to win the most prestigious title in baseball and thus far, he has fulfilled his word.
The Rangers dominated the American League West division and then overcame the Tampa Bay Rays rather comprehensively in the AL Division Series. The team continued with the winning momentum in the AL Championship Series, defeating the Detroit Tigers in six
games to lift the AL pennant for the second year running.
Explaining his approach towards the game, Washington said, "You do the things you think it's going to take on a daily basis to be successful, then you become fortunate enough that your players execute the things that you ask them to do and get focused on
the things that it's going to take to be successful. And when they do that, it makes you proud.”
Washington continued that his coaching staff has delivered beyond expectations and the players have produced the best they could have. He added that a congenial environment in the dugout motivates him to set-out goals and then work to achieve them.
The manager earned praise from team president Nolan Ryan, who pointed out that Washington’s liveliness in the dugout is not a show and indeed depicts a true picture of who Ron actually is. Ryan added that Washington is thoroughly involved in the game and
his energy and enthusiasm spearheads the team.
Before the World Series began, Washington asserted that his team is adept with National League-style of play and this motivation was enough to split the first two games at Busch Stadium. He tactfully handled his counterpart at Rangers Ballpark and kept his
team intact after a 7-16 battering in Game 3, coming back to win the next two games and thus impose a decisive lead in the Fall Classic.
With just one win separating the Rangers from becoming champions for the first time in 51 years, Washington’s approach to the game will be vital.
