Feyenoord Rotterdam manager, Ronald Koeman, has expressed his happiness on the fact that his side is not participating in any European competition. He believes that his troops have more time on their hands to train properly.
De Stadionclub struggled to achieve good results last term but eventually finished 10th on the league table. Consequently, they failed to attain any European berth.
The Dutch trainer expects his players to remain fresh as the season progress, and revealed that he has ample time to work heavily with the young talent. The tactician believes that his troops must profit from this opportunity fully as they do not have to
play two matches in a week.
“I now have the time to put things down and to properly train the players. We must achieve this profit as a club. Koeman said while talking to the journalists.
The tactician’s contentment can only be attributed to the fact that European competitions always tend to break a team’s rhythm in the domestic competition, which has been evidently seen in the past in the Dutch top flight.
De Stadionclub are yet to lose a match this season, winning three of their five league encounters. The Rotterdam giants will battle against De Graafschap at De Kuip Stadion on Saturday, September 17.
The 48-year-old has demanded a strong performance from his troops and has urged his side not to underestimate the visitors.
“It would be harsh to think that we will win the match easily. Our team is only impressive when everyone plays his role perfectly. I got the feeling at the training that the players know what is at stake”, Koeman concluded.
The coach will be hoping that his side stage a dominant performance in front of their home crowd and bag all three points at the end.
