The 48-year-old has done well since his arrival at De Kuip Stadion and a contract extension seems to be on the cards.
Reports from De Kuip Stadion confirm that Ronald Koeman is close to agreeing a new contract with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258 Rotterdam that will see him remain in charge of the Rotterdam giants at least for another season.
The 48-year-old started his managerial career in 1997 as the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/AZ-c38571 Alkmaar respectively.
The Dutchman took over the managerial hot seat at the Rotterdammers following Mario Been’s departure in July 2011, signing a one-year contract with the club.
After achieving good results thus far in the ongoing season, the club management is eager to extend his deal.
The Dutch mentor also confirmed that a new contract seems to be a done deal.
“The atmosphere is very positive, but agreement has not yet been reached. I want to stay and the club management also intends to continue with me. We have not so far got an agreement, but that will soon be done. We will talk about it back in the Netherlands”,
Koeman was quoted as saying to the media.
The Rotterdammers are currently sitting fifth in the Eredivisie table, trailing the league leaders, AZ Alkmaar, by seven points. While the credit must go to the players, too, for performing consistently, the Dutch trainer’s hard work and good tactical vision
certainly remain the obvious reason behind the Rotterdam giants' scintillating performances.
Koeman would be hoping that his side continues to impress in the second-half of the season and finish in the top three Eredivisie sides at the end of the 2011/12 campaign.
However, the Dutch trainer knows that it will not be an easy task, as PSV, AZ and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Twente-c39233 have thus far performed exceptionally while Ajax have achieved good results, historically, in the second half of the season.
