The Dutch trainer has expressed delight after putting pen to paper on a new deal at De Kuip Stadion, and has revealed that he wants to regain the Rotterdammers lost status as Dutch powerhouse.
Reports from De Kuip Stadion confirm that Feyenoord Rotterdam have reached an agreement with the club’s head coach, Ronald Koeman, over a contract extension.
The Dutch trainer’s ongoing contract was due to expire in the summer of 2013, but following his side’s impressive performances since the start of the 2011/12 season, the club management decided to prolong the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 player’s stay at De Kuip Stadion.
The 49-year-old had no hesitation in prolonging his stay, and was more than happy to put pen to paper on a one-year extension to his ongoing contract.
Koeman, who started his professional coaching career in the summer of 1999 when he took the reins of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Vitesse-c40905 Arnhem, was delighted after signing the new contract.
“I have already said more than once that I am feeling very well at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Feyenoord-c39258. The club also stated on several occasions that they wanted to continue with me, so there wasn't much to discuss”, the Dutch mentor was quoted as saying to the club’s official website.
The veteran tactician took over the managerial hot seat at De Kuip Stadion at the start of the 2011/12 campaign, and guided the club to an impressive second place finish on the league table.
In addition, the Rotterdammers rise to the fourth place in the league standings in the ongoing season convinced the club management to offer the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/PSV-c40281 boss an extension to his contract.
Koeman’s new deal will keep him at De Kuip Stadion until the end of the 2013/14 campaign.
Feyenoord technical director, Martin van Geel, was also pleased after the Dutch trainer agreed to sign a contract extension, and revealed that the talks between the two parties concluded very quickly.
“From the start, it was clear we and Ronald had the same thing in mind - a contract extension of one year. If you both want that and also think the same about good conditions for both sides, then things can be quick”, Van Geel said while talking to journalists.
