  1. lamotta wears down winky and stops him in 10 rounds.

  2. Jake LaMotta

  3. I think Wright would win this, but it would depend on what era of officiating we are talking about.  In LaMotta's era refs let things go more then they do today which would play right into LaMotta's style.  However if we are talking about present day then  I could see Winky winning a decision.

  4. LaMotta was a tough guy, he would try to bully Winky inside, but Winky has above average defensive skills, neither have great knockout percentages, so maybe Jake wears him down by the 15th round, he gave Robinson some fits, so I will say Lamotta by decision due to persistance.

  5. would be a good fight but Lamotta would win by KO or decision since Winky Loses all big fights anyway ...... Lamotta was the first to beat Sugar Ray Robinson and was able to hurt him and floor him in multiple fights ....Robinson was able to beat lamotta with Jabs and lots of movement but Winky is a counterpuncher that Never brings the action ....i dont think he would be able to hold off the Stronger Lamotta and Winky would just crowd him and make it a boring fight...

  6. Interesting fight.  LaMotta was called "The Raging Bull" for a good reason as he was tough, durable, strong, and could really take a punch.  He came forward throwing punches and did not worry too much about getting hit in return.  Wright is one of the best defensive fighters I've ever seen but in a way that hurts him as he just does not throw around the leather quite enough and that's cost him in some big fights.  Neither man is well reknowned for having a big punch though LaMotta would come inside and maul you.  I see this fight developing with LaMotta coming forward and throwing punches against the defensive minded Wright.  Most would not land cleanly and Wright would finally open up and throw some of his own which would not even faze LaMotta.  This fight would go the distance with LaMotta the winner by split decision.

  7. Interesting matchup - Wright couldn't really keep LaMotta off him, LaMotta's chin was legendary, and Winky doesn't really throw punches with conviction, plus he doesn't move all that much.  But LaMotta didn't have the technique to score cleanly against a guy of Wright's defensive caliber; I guess if it were 15 rounds, eventually LaMotta could break through enough win a really, really tough decision.

  8. I saw this earlier at work and it didn't catch my eye as quickly as some of the other hypothetical match ups that have been posted, but then I started thinking about it on the drive home and  it really started to intrigue me. It might be the most interesting one I've seen posted today.

I also appreciate some of the really smart analysis people have posted on this one. I think voneric called it--it's hard to imagine a defensive counter-puncher beating LaMotta, especially in a 15 rounder. I just think he would manage to bully his way in enough times to start doing some damage and scoring.

I don't even know that I necessarily even think LaMotta is better, but like they say, styles make fights.
