The former Dutch international has insisted that the Amsterdammers can compete successfully in Europe with their own academy products if they manage to hold onto them a bit longer.
Ronald de Boer is of the view that Ajax Amsterdam’s philosophy to nurture their youth academy players is the perfect way to achieving success both at domestic and European front.
The Amsterdammers were crowned Dutch champions for the 31st time in the club’s history at the end of the 2011/12 campaign, and they achieved this feat with a youthful squad.
And the 42-year-old, the older twin brother of Frank de Boer, has admitted that the club’s youth policy will certainly achieve them success not only in the highest echelons of Dutch football but also in Europe.
“If you coach and raise up your young talents at a very high level, then you can compete and be a surprise in Europe. That is what we are trying to do and that means new ideas and philosophies”, De Boer said while talking to the media.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Rangers-c40314 star went on to express his feelings that working alongside all the former Ajax players is very special, while insisting that they all are working to guide the club back to glory days.
“I must say, it's great to have all of those ex-players of Ajax on board – (Marc) Overmars, (Edwin) van der Sar, me and my brother (Frank de Boer) and all involved. Hopefully, in the next couple of years, we can see the results”, De Boer added.
However, the Dutchman has warned the Amsterdammers that losing top talents on a regular basis will not help the club to restore its status as a European giant.
“If you sell your best talents every time, then you're never going to compete with the best teams in Europe. Hopefully, we can hold onto them a little bit longer”, De Boer concluded.
De Joden failed to hold onto the services of Gregory van der Wiel, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Christian-Eriksen-c9074 at the end of the ongoing campaign.
