Former Barcelona player, Ronaldinho, is on the verge of a move to Brazilian side, Gremio. A lot of speculation surrounded the Brazilian's future and a host of European clubs were linked with the former FIFA Player of the Year.
Italian President and A.C Milan owner, Silvio Berlusconi, had a discussion with his interior minister, Ignazio La Russa, and the duo believes that former Sampdoria man, Antonio Cassano, is a direct replacement for the 30-year old Brazilian.
Now, it is pretty safe to say that A.C Milan will be without the services of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldinho-c31733 in 2011. The former Paris Saint Germain man is almost a Gremio player as he makes a return to his homeland.
Transfer chief, Adriano Galliani, is already in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 as we speak and he will surely announce shortly about the official departure of Ronaldinho. People are still wondering if it’s right to let go of Ronaldinho.
There are many reasons that can be given to vouch for A.C Milan’s decision to let go of a player who was once the biggest thing in football.
First of all, he has recently never justified his hefty wages with his performances. Sometimes, Ronaldinho gives the impression of a footballer who has retired and is just doing his time on the field and waiting to be substituted. Unfortunately, Ronaldinho
has become a luxury that Milan coach, Massimiliano Allegri, just cannot afford.
Moreover, Milan has a lot of talent at their disposal with the likes of Robinho, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Antonio-Cassano-c6302. Kevin Prince Boateng signed this summer and after a slow start, the Ghanaian is settling in. Such great
attacking options mean that Ronaldinho will never be a regular fix at the San Siro.
From the media's point of view, Ronaldinho was never going to raise the bar after he had an ill relationship with Allegri, and this was one of the reasons why he was linked with a host of clubs long before the January transfer window opened.
Ronaldinho practically had no future at San Siro and Signor Galliani had no other option than getting rid of a former superstar who once arrived in Milan as a “Prophet” who would take the club to new heights, but who ended up as more of a flop. Giving him
a contract extension would have been madness and it was very wise to offload him in order to make way for Antonio Cassano.
Back in 2008, Ronaldinho was earning almost 15 million pounds and his spell with A.C Milan, has been a failure. Although the Brazilian was able to sell many shirts at Milan and even showed some classy touches that made him a huge star in Barcelona, he was
never able to replicate his form at Barcelona. Perhaps Barcelona had seen where Ronaldinho’s career was heading to and made a wise decision by easily allowing him to leave for Milan.
The man who won the Golden Ball in 2005 was easily overshadowed by fellow countryman, Kaka, in the 2008/09 Season and even the Dutch veteran, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Clarence-Seedorf-c9275, had a great season. Under Leonardo, Ronaldinho performed better in the next season and scored
12 goals and even provided 16 assists. Many thought that maybe Ronaldinho is back. But alas! Leonardo was sacked and was replaced by Massimiliano Allegri this season and the Italian became Ronaldinho’s bane.
Tired of being a benchwarmer, Ronaldinho had enough of the Calcio in Italy and made clear of his desire to return to his homeland and play for his boyhood club, Gremio. It is Ronaldinho’s brain and not his legs that are telling him to leave Europe forever
because he can’t cope (mentally) with the pressure in European football anymore.
This farewell seems to be a good decision for both parties. Let’s just hope that the ‘still loved’ “Dinho” finds peace in Brazil.
