Ronaldinho not leaving AC Milan after all
Ronaldinho, the former FIFA Player of the Year, has finally spoken about his future plans. The Brazilian midfielder insists he has no intentions of leaving AC Milan. The thirty-year-old, whose contract with the club is set to expire
in June, was reported to be looking for a move away from the San Siro.
The former Barcelona star has fallen out of favour with the AC Milan manager in recent seasons and now struggles to find a place in the starting eleven. His lack of playing time led to speculation that he could be looking to move
away from Milan. Liverpool were the latest in a long line of clubs to be linked to the former Barcelona player, presumably to pair him up with Fernando Torres.
However, Ronaldinho has put an end to the speculation by releasing this statement: ‘The transfer market? People have spoken about this for some time now, but I want to stay at Milan and win with Milan. In fact I want to help Milan
to win. The fact Milan are doing so well stimulates me to find space and regain my place. I have been waiting to win something with this shirt ever since I arrived.’
Since arriving from Barcelona in 2008, Ronaldinho has not made a significant impact at his new home. His off-pitch problems contributed to his poor performance in the last two years and his fitness has come under question. It remains
to be seen whether Ronaldinho can regain his spot in AC Milans’ squad. Although he has made it clear he wants to stay at the San Siro, it is not certain that his contract with the club will be renewed comes round June.
If the Italian club does decide not to keep the troubled midfielder, there will undoubtedly be many others who would be willing to obtain his services.
