In a recent interview with Marca, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 showed desire of beating his own record number of goals in La Liga.
The Portuguese captain said:
"In football nothing is impossible and every record can be broken. I hope to surpass the previous record, but I want to thank my team-mates for making it possible for me to win the trophy.”
It seems as though the Portuguese captain wants to repeat his last year’s record-breaking goal-scoring tally.
Before Ronaldo broke the record for the highest number of goals in a season, the record was held by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Hugo-c16384 Sanchez and Telmo Zarra – they both scored 38 goals in a single season.
This season Ronaldo has managed to register 30 league goals to his name already.
The Portuguese star was able to score in Real Madrid’s incredible 5-0 victory against Espanyol and seems content with the fact that he was the player who opened the scoring against the Catalan outfit.
While playing under Jose Mourinho, Ronaldo’s playmaking abilities have been remarkable. Last season he was able to provide the team with 10 assists in La Liga.
With his current form, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 can surely win the Pichichi award again. However, there is a fair amount of debate and doubt on the number of goals he scored last season.
In a game against Real Sociedad, Real Madrid scored through a free-kick which was deflected into the goal by http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Pepe-c29670. The LFP believes that the goal was scored by Pepe, whereas Marca gave the goal to Cristiano Ronaldo.
This season things are looking good for both, Cristiano Ronaldo and Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid. Madrid are currently 10 points ahead of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604.
However, for Ronaldo, the main competition comes from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296, who is in impeccable form this season. The Argentinean star has scored 28 goals in La Liga this season and looks better than ever. He was Ronaldo’s main competitor last season, and this season the battle between the two outstanding goal scorers has continued.
The way Ronaldo has performed so far this season, it is definitely possible for him to add another Pichichi award to his accolades. His ability to provide incredible assists and scoring remarkable goals certainly makes him one of the deadliest finishers in the world.
However, Lionel Messi is also catching up on his goal-scoring tally. With Barcelona ten-points behind Real Madrid, Lionel Messi has nothing to lose but the Pichichi.
