The Portuguese international was jubilant in wake of his side’s 2-1 victory over Barcelona as he praised the way Madrid performed on Saturday.
Real Madrid’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 has expressed his joy at emerging victorious over his club’s fiercest rivals and has maintained that Los Blancos are now in a comfortable position to win the Spanish La Liga.
Jose Mourinho’s men paid a visit to the Catalan capital this past Saturday to take up the challenge of Pep Guardiola’s Barca in the Spanish Primera. The match that took place at the Nou Camp saw Los Vikingos humble the current Spanish champions to a 2-1
defeat.
The Whites now enjoy an advantage of 7 points against La Blaugrana, at the top of the Spanish Primera Division’s league standings.
With only four matches left to play in this season’s La Liga campaign, Madrid are now in the driving seat to win their first Liga BBVA title in three years.
Considering their record at the Nou Camp in recent years, Real were considered underdogs prior to the start of the match. The fact that their arch rivals had made a tremendous comeback in the league table also gave Guardiola’s men a mental edge.
Last month Madrid were 10 points clear of Barca in the table; however, recent weeks saw the advantage drop to just 4 points.
With 3 points at stake in Saturday’s El Clasico, it was rightly believed that the encounter will determine this year’s champions.
To the joy of the Santiago Bernabeu loyal, their team has finally managed to show that the Catalan outfit are no longer the dominant force over Spanish football.
Ronaldo, who scored the winning goal for the Blancos, was ecstatic at the result and hailed his teammates for the important victory.
While talking to reporters, the 27-year-old quoted:
"It was a great show we put on, and I must congratulate my team-mates because they have been fantastic and we deserve this success. My goal was important because it gave us three points, but the victory is what really matters. I've scored in my last three
games at this stadium, but what matters is the team and it gave an exhibition performance tonight [Saturday]."
With Real Madrid having their hands firmly gripping the Spanish crown, the defending Spanish champions are only left in despair as they watch their ambitions to reclaim La Liga title drift away.
