The Real Madrid forward has stated that losing out on the prestigious prize will not hurt him a lot, but it deservedly must go to him.
Portuguese sensation Cristiano Ronaldo has stated that he will not be too disappointed if he is not awarded with the prestigious individual accolade which is due to be dispatched on the 7th of January 2013.
However, the Real Madrid forward has insisted that he will for once like to see the award coming his way as he believes that he is the most deserving winner of the award this year.
The top three of the Ballon d’Or have been shortlisted and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 pair of Lionel Messi and Andres Iniesta have all made up to the final short-listing for the accolade.
Ronaldo had a phenomenal season with Los Blancos and also replicated his performances on the international stage as he led his Madrid side to their first La Liga title in 4 years, while also helping http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Portugal-c2984 reach the semi finals of the Euro 2012.
Ronaldo has had an amazing goal tally associated to his name since joining the Spanish capital side, and has gone on to score a massive 169 goals in as many appearances at club level.
As the award approaches fast, Ronaldo and fellow rival http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 are seen as the most likely to walk away with the honour. Messi has broken several awards as well but his goals were seen as fruitless as they did not yield the league title to the Catalan
giants.
Ronaldo supposedly missed out on the award for the same reason last season considering that he was the top scorer in the league, but his goals did not help the Madrid outfit grab the La Liga crown.
http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 was of the say that,
“Obviously I would like to win, I will not be a hypocrite and a liar, it is something that I aspire to, but I cannot think, if I fail, it is the end,” he told the Portuguese Football Federation's official website.
“I can live without an individual award, even if it would be unfair. The career of a footballer is not marked by individual trophies, but by the collective.”
Ronaldo also was of the say that he has more emotions when he is playing for his country as compared to playing for his club side, as patriotism comes into play there.
