Ronda Rousey being eyed by Dana White – UFC Special
Ronda Rousey, the fighter who finishes her opponents by armbar in the first round, is a pioneer when it comes to women MMA. Not only has she exhibited herself as an outstanding mixed martial artist, but she has also made a statement for the position of women
in mixed martial arts. Her determination and fight skills have earned her the Strikeforce Women’s Bantamweight title and now she is on her way to influence Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, to make room for women artists in UFC as
well.
White, who has always been claiming that UFC will never have women mixed martial artists, is so fond of Rousey that he believes she can make it happen.
“It's not that I changed my position on Women's MMA, I still believe it's not deep enough to have a complete weight division and put on fights all the time. But yeah it's no secret that I've been pretty honest about my feelings about Ronda Rousey,” said
White at the UFC on Fuel 5 post-fight media conference.
“I think she's f**king* awesome. I think she's mean, I think she's nasty, and she's a real fighter and I like watching her fight. I think there can be some fun fights with Ronda ... and some of the other women too. But you'd have to do some one offs,” he
added.
White has never been a fan of watching women fight, but when it comes to Ronda Rousey, he definitely is a believer. White still believes UFC will take time to establish a women’s MMA division. However, he insists that with fighters like Ronda Rousey in the
division, things might just happen in a swift.
Rousey is currently the leading woman martial artist in the world. She has defeated nearly every elite woman fighter in the world such as Sarah Kaufman, Miesha Tate, Julia Budd, Sarah D’Alelio and many more. She currently stands with an unbeaten record.
She has battled six opponents, defeating all of them via armbar submission in the very first round.
For now, White is hopeful that the UFC will soon come up with a plan to accommodate women mixed martial artists.
