Ronel Estanislao topples Jaime Jr. Junio in top-16 stage of 2011 MVP Sports Foundation Bingo Bonanza
Philippines’ Ronel Estanislao was successful in winning a quarter-final place as he has toppled Jaime Jr. Junio in the top-16 stage of the 2011 MVP Sports Foundation Bingo Bonanza event, in Philippines, on Sunday, July 31.
Ronel delivered a good performance by playing better badminton against Junio and won the three-set fight after working hard for 60 minutes. Junio also displayed good game but was not able to win the battle as he lost with a tight margin.
In the first game, Ronel started to play with aggression from the starting points and remained successful in building up a good lead of 11-7 at the interval. He played to his full potential by keeping the pace of the game high. Junio failed to match the
speed of Ronel and remained behind in the whole first game.
After the break, Ronel played in the same manner to remain in a dominating position in the match. He continued playing aggressive badminton to push his opponent on the back foot. His strategy worked really well and earned him a one-game advantage as he won
the opening set with a margin of 21-14, in 19 minutes.
The second set was also worth watching, as Junio dominated the game this time. He avoided to play shots in the strong areas of his challenger and remained focused to play more accurate strokes. He earned a good advantage of 11-8 in the first-half of the
game.
After taking a 60-second break, Ronel accelerated his speed to level the deficit but failed completely as his rival was not sparing any room for him to score points. Ronel lost the second set to his opponent in 20 minutes with the difference of 16-21.
The deciding game of this Men’s Singles third-round battle was the most entertaining one, as compared to the previous two sets. Until the interval in the third game, the score remained tied.
However, after the break, Ronel controlled the pace and remained successful by winning the set with a 21-18 score in 21 minutes. This interesting rubber-set match ended with a 21-14, 16-21 and 21-18 score on the board.
