Ronnie O’Sullivan beats Jimmy White in the Snooker Legends exhibition – Snooker News
The Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan, came hard on the former people’s champion, Jimmy White, with a strong snooker display at the York Barbican Centre, when he defeated the Whirlwind 6-2, in the Snooker Legends exhibition match.
The former three-time world snooker champion, O’Sullivan, failed to make a 147 maximum in the fifth frame.
The 35-year-old O’Sullivan started the encounter in a tremendous fashion, as he took the first frame after drilling a long red into the bottom-left pocket to complete his 88 run and get a 1-0 early lead. White was not shaken as he replied with a rattling
century knock of 130 in the second frame to pull level at 1-1.
The Essex Exocet, O’Sullivan, got a one-frame lead again after he made a near-century run at 98 in the third frame. He could have made his first century if he had not missed a difficult pink at 98. Another fine clearance of 87 in the fourth frame brought
the Wordsley potter, O’Sullivan, in a two-frame lead at 3-1.
O’Sullivan made a scintillating start in the fifth frame when he went for a 147 maximum break but failed, after he attempted the final red. The ball rattled between the jaws of the top-left pocket and O’Sullivan stayed at 112. He grabbed the frame to move
within three frames up against white at 4-1.
White got a strong start in the sixth frame as he produced a decent 26-point break but failed on the blue. The fast and furious O’Sullivan made some tricky shots and with a fine clearance of 86, he took the sixth frame and led the match, 5-1.
White took the scrappy seventh frame firing a 40-point break to go one frame up at 5-2, followed by O’Sullivan’s 63 to grab the match victory with 6-2, in the end.
The Rocket wrote on a social-networking site, “Great nite last night in york.. Wanna thank everyone who came to watch... I hope you all had a good time.. X.”
O’Sullivan put up a great show in the match and thanked the spectators who came to watch the encounter.
