Ronnie O’Sullivan believes retiring after 2012 World Snooker Championship is appropriate time
Snooker fans across the world might face another blow after the retirement of the former seven-time World Snooker Championship winner, Stephen Hendry, as another star of the snooker universe, the former three-time World Snooker Champion, England’s Ronnie
O’Sullivan is also considering retiring from World Snooker after the finish of the 2012 World Snooker Championship.
While speaking to the local media, O’Sullivan said, “I've had a fantastic time and it's got to come to an end sooner or later. I don't want to drag it out too long. I always said I'd like to go out on a high and getting to this final has been great. I'd
love to go on and win it now.”
The Wordsley potter added, “I'm not saying it's a guarantee but I think now is as good a time as ever. I know it might seem crazy but people close to me know what's going on. I've not been afraid to show how I feel. I feel in a good place to be able to say
that.”
The Rocket believes that retiring from the game at this time will be quite appropriate because he has performed in the mega event. The Essex Exocet performed brilliantly from the opening round of the Championship and cruised his way successfully into the
final encounter of the event against the Captain, Ali Carter.
O’Sullivan was up against Wales’ Matthew Stevens in the semi-final encounter and played outstandingly in the clash. With tremendous snooker skills, the Englishman was able to win the penultimate clash by the score line of 17-10. Stevens had his chances but
failed to draw out any advantage of them. Ali Carter, on the other hand, has been a consistent performer in the mega event and booked his place in the final clash.
Hendry’s retirement was indeed a major blow to the world of snooker and O’Sullivan retiring would also sadden many hearts who want to see him play for the next decade. Currently the 36-year-old is on top of his form and believes he can clinch fourth world
title beating Carter at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. It will be interesting to see what O’Sullivan decides as the world of snooker will be unfortunate to lose such a great player.
