Ronnie O’Sullivan believes winning World Snooker Championship title was doubtful for him
England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan played brilliantly in the final encounter of the 2012 World Snooker Championship against the former World Snooker Championship finalist, compatriot Ali Carter and defeated him by the score line of 18-11. The Essex Exocet was looking
very confident as he entered the Crucible Theatre arena in Sheffield and played impressively to unsettle his opponent.
The Rocket was a little worried about his form in the mega event. He was doubtful about his game play in the final encounter against Carter.
While speaking to the media after his match, O’Sullivan said, “I made sure I wasn't being too critical of myself if things didn't go well and next time I get to the table try and play the best shot I can possibly play and that's what I've done. It's hard
to do that for 17 days. It's an absolute marathon.”
He added, “That's the philosophy behind it, we're fortunate to be able to play this game, so it's allowed me to be happy in my life and enjoy the game as well. I'm not a better player, I'm just giving myself more of a chance I suppose.”
O’Sullivan was unable to perform accordingly in the previous season but he bounced back into his tremendous form in the beginning of the 2011-12 Snooker Season and clinched the first event of the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC).
During his season run, the Wordsley cueman was unable to play in the 2012 Haikou World Open and the 2011-12 PTC Grand Finals because of the after effects of glandular fever. Despite his illness, the Magician showed scintillating performance in the 2012 German
Masters and won the title after beating the Scotsman Stephen Maguire by the score line of 9-7.
The 36-year-old started his World Snooker Championship campaign with a superb victory over the former World Snooker Champion Peter Ebdon in the first round. The closest match he played in the run was against the former Champion Neil Robertson in the quarter-final
clash but still managed to claim the victory by the score line of 13-10. It will be interesting to see how O’Sullivan manages to carry his winning momentum forward as he played superbly to beat Ali Carter.
