Ronnie O’Sullivan breezes into quarters after beating Mark Williams: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Winner of the 2012 German Masters snooker tournament, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan booked his place successfully in the quarter-final stage of the 2012 World Snooker Championship after ousting the former two-time World Snooker Champion, Wales’ Mark Williams
by an easy score line of 13-6.
The competition did not end the way it was expected but still the spectators present at the Crucible Theatre arena in Sheffield enjoyed every moment of the game.
The first session of the match finished in Williams’ favour as the Welsh Potting Machine clinched three frame wins to lead the game by the score line of 2-3. Until the finish of the first session, the contest seemed tussling but the ending of the next two
sessions cleared the scoreboard as the Rocket breezed into an eight frames lead after hitting nine set victories to snatch the lead at 11-3.
O’Sullivan’s lead ensured his strong control over the game but the Welshman still had chances to come-back into the game. He fought hard with two classy frame wins and moved three frames up at 11-5. However, this comeback did not help Williams as the Essex
Exocet clinched two frames to claim the victory and hit the Last-8 spot.
While speaking to World Snooker, O’Sullivan said, “I haven't had an easy draw. I think whoever wins this tournament will have to beat Neil Robertson and I've got to play him in the quarters so it's definitely not easy. But I'm a competitor, I'll always give
it my best and we'll see.”
The Chigwell player added, “I was feeling confident and playing aggressive, I used to play like that all the time when I was younger but it only happens every now and again now.”
The Wordsley cueman entered the Crucible Theatre with hopes to grab his fourth world title. So far, he has played impressively at the Crucible baize and it seems he is in full swing. The Englishman is happy with his form and believes he can make a difference
this time.
A couple of major names like Judd Trump, John Higgins and Stephen Hendry have already crashed out of the event which makes him the favourite to win the 2012 World Snooker Championship title.
