Ronnie O’Sullivan does not want his son to be a snooker player – Snooker News
Winning his fourth World Snooker Championship was an outstanding achievement for the Essex potter, Ronnie O’Sullivan as he moved up in the world ranking. He defeated compatriot Ali Carter in the final contest of the 2012 World Snooker Championship by the
score line of 18-11 at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. O’Sullivan was quite happy to be the champion once again after four years of his absence.
The Essex Exocet had a tremendous championship run with his superb game play at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. He played his opening match of the 2012 World Snooker Championship against the former World Snooker Champion Peter Ebdon and defeated him by
the score line of 10-4.
The second round match of O’Sullivan seemed tough because he was up against the former two-time World Snooker Champion Mark Williams. However, the match turned out to be O’Sullivan show as he breezed into a scintillating victory over the Welshman by an easy
score line of 13-6.
The former World Snooker champion Neil Robertson was his opponent in the quarter-final stage to beat him by 13-10 and set up his semi-final match against the Welshman Matthew Stevens where he triumphed by 17-10.
O’Sullivan family was present among the Crucible spectators which was very happy on his success. The family also had his son, Ronnie junior with them who was in the Rocket’s arm as he clinched the final frame to ensure his victory over Carter.
While speaking to the media after his victory, O’Sullivan said, “I loved going to the snooker club, but I want Ronnie Jnr to be happy. I don’t want to start building him up. He’s only four. His mum has the right attitude, teaching him to dance, having fun
growing up with a laugh.”
He added, “I just want him to do whatever he wants to do. Whatever that is, I hope he doesn’t have the mindset I had. I was all right until I was 16 then I got too harsh on myself, knew I was capable of more than I was giving and got frustrated.”
Meanwhile, Ronnie is planning to begin the new snooker season with a new spirit and prove his class to the world.
