Ronnie O’Sullivan edges past Peter Ebdon in Round 1 of 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former three-time World Snooker Champion from England, Ronnie O’Sullivan overpowered the 2012 China Open snooker tournament winner, compatriot Peter Ebdon by the score line of 10-4 in the first round of the 2012 World Snooker Championship as he has reserved
his place in the second round. The Rocket dominated the game from the start with his classy snooker display against the Chinese event winner and hit an easy win.
The Essex Exocet seemed focused from the beginning and had complete control over the baize. He fired some outstanding clearances during the game. At the end of the first day proceedings, O’Sullivan was leading the score line by five frames at 7-2. He needed
only three frames to claim the victory while Ebdon had a long way to go to unsettle his opponent.
The Ebdonator was able to win only two frames on the second day while the Wordsley potter, O’Sullivan triumphed in three frames to beat the former Champ, Ebdon, by 10-4. O’Sullivan was totally in cue with his new trendy haircut and displayed a sensible game
of snooker at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield. The Magician expressed that he enjoyed playing at the Crucible arena.
While speaking to World Snooker after his match, O’Sullivan said, “I enjoyed playing - my attitude was good, my attitude's been good all season even though I've not been playing great. I've not been beating myself up so much for not playing great which is
what I always do.”
The 36-year-old added, “It's each match at a time, I've had a decent season so it would be nice to win a few matches here, but there's no point getting carried away. All credit to Peter, he's a top player and winner of our last tournament out in China, I
knew it was going to be tough, that's what I got.”
Meanwhile, the former Champ, Ebdon was quite disappointed after getting eliminated from the tournament as he was hoping for a strong comeback into the game. He showed great determination in the 2012 China Open snooker event and had high expectations from
his cue in the mega event but he failed to execute his true potential in the match.
