Ronnie O’Sullivan grateful to Steve Peters for his efforts – Snooker Update
Most naturally talented snooker player, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan lifted his fourth World Snooker Championship title after pushing down the former World Snooker Championship finalist, compatriot Ali Carter by the score line of 18-11. The Rocket has thanked
his Dr. Steve Peters who put a lot of efforts in reviving O’Sullivan’s current form after a poor showing in the previous season.
The 2010-11 Snooker Season did not go according to the Englishman’s expectations because he failed to perform accordingly in his season run. He faced some personal problems which did not let him concentrate on his game and he crashed out of the initial stages
of many major snooker events. The 36-year-old even hinted his retirement from the World Snooker quite a few times but came back to the game.
The previous did not finish well for him and he felt quite upset. However, after spending some days after the 2011 World Snooker Championship, O’ Sullivan then visited Dr Steve Peters, who is a sports psychiatrist, to consult his problems. The Wordsley potter
believes that Peters have an important role in the revival of his classic form.
While speaking to the media about Dr Peters, O’Sullivan said, “I have to thank Steve Peters because he's an expert scientist of how the brain works. I've never needed anyone to tell me how to play snooker, I've had help along the way which I'm very thankful
for. But Steve just helped me understand that my brain is a machine and if I can manage it I can do anything I want to.”
He added, “Deep down in my heart I would love to play snooker, I've always loved the game but I got too involved and wrapped up in it.”
The Essex Exocet showed tremendous game play from the beginning of the final against Carter. The Englishman grabbed an early lead which he kept until the end of the match. The Captain bounced back into the game in the third session of the game but it was
not enough from him and he tumbled down in the fourth session to lose the game 18-11.
