Ronnie O’Sullivan happy after ousting Ding Junhui at 2011 Premier League Snooker Grand Final
England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan grabbed an easy victory against China’s Ding Junhui in the final encounter of the 2011 Premier League Snooker Grand Final at Potters Leisure Resort, in Hopton-on-Sea, England. The Rocket added a 10th premier league
title to his account after winning the encounter by a 7-1 match score.
O’Sullivan is quite excited after grabbing his tenth premier league title and says he is feeling positive about his game.
The Rocket grabbed a quick lead of 4-0 over the Chinese, clinching first four scrappy frames by the score line of 68-31, 96-16, 80-24 and 57-43 after three stunning knocks of 52, 92 and 56, respectively. Junhui emerged in the fifth rack, winning it by 33-70
to move one frame up at 4-1, but this one-frame victory was not enough to stop the Englishman from winning the match.
After five frames, the Hopton-on-Sea saw a couple of topsy-turvy frames, where both players went head-to-head, with O’Sullivan coming out as the eventual winner. The last frame was O’Sullivan’s show as he swept the baize in one visit to claim the title.
Former three-time World Snooker Champion is happy after putting up an outstanding triumph over Junhui.
While speaking to local reporters after his match, O’Sullivan said, “That was brilliant. I played good and I know Ding didn't play as good as he could. He had a bad kick luckily for me and did a decent clearance to take the frame and go 6-1. Ding did have
a few chances and balls didn't run for him but I had a bit of luck and made it count.”
The former four-time UK Champion added, “Ding didn’t play as well as he could but the balls didn’t really run for him and I was able to make things count. I was expecting him to keep coming at me and I knew then I needed to raise my game; I needed to find
some better form from somewhere.”
The premier league victory will be quite helpful for the Wordsley potter, as he now makes his way to the York Barbican Centre for participating in the 2011 UK Championship. He is in splendid form and has the ability to put up an excellent snooker show at
the prestigious event. The 35-year-old O’Sullivan is up against veteran, Steve Davis, in his Round 1 draw.
