Ronnie O’Sullivan is back in business: 2012 UK Championship – Snooker Update
After a long period of waiting, the reigning World Snooker Champion, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan has finally decided to get back to business and take part in the new season events.
In his recent remarks, the Rocket has confirmed about his return into the professional circuit. The legendary potter deliberately stayed away from the game for six months and did not sign the World Snooker contract for the new snooker season competitions.
He recently Tweeted, “Happy to be back in snooker. See you all soon xx.”
He further said, “I work as hard as anyone in snooker and I just want to be treated fairly. That's up to the governing body to treat players right.”
The legendary potter claimed the 2012 World Snooker Championship title, overall his fourth world title, after beating the Captain, Ali Carter by the score line of 18-11. After that the Englishman started a brawl with World Snooker because he did not want
to take part instantly after the Championship and wanted a break before he could start his new season campaign.
He refused to sign the contract and said that he will take a break. However, he expected a wild card entry in the 2012 Shanghai Masters snooker tournament but the snooker governing body, World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) stated
that the wild card award is not solely the authority of the association or the organisers.
Nevertheless, the Englishman has now signed the contract and will take part in the International Snooker Championship, a newly added event in the snooker calendar by the WPBSA. After that the Rocket will appear in the 2012 UK Championship in December.
He spoke to World Snooker, “I have taken the six month sabbatical I said I would and I am now looking forward to competing over the rest of this season. I am happy to be back in snooker and seeing all my fans soon!”
O’Sullivan’s return in the game will boost the energy of the events and more fans will drop by the venues of these events. The Essex Exocet will be expecting the same good performance from himself that he showed in the 2012 World Snooker Championship.
