Ronnie O’Sullivan moves up in world snooker rankings after winning Players Tour Championship 7
After a splendid performance at the Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 7, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan has jumped up in the world snooker rankings. He has climbed two places up from Number 14 position to hit the Number 12 rank. O’Sullivan played impressively
in the final match of the Players Tour Championship Event 7 against Welshman, Matthew Stevens, and defeated him by the score line of 4-2.
The 35-years-old O’Sullivan completely unsettled his opponent in the final encounter with back-to-back frame victories to take a 2-0 lead with two stunning breaks of 95 and 76, respectively. Stevens capitalised in the third frame to make it 2-3 but lost
the fourth frame 68-1, to go two frames down at 3-1. However, a superb knock of 127 brought him back in the encounter at 3-2.
In the sixth frame, Stevens grabbed an early lead of 0-20 but it could not save him from losing the match by 4-2, as the former three-time world snooker champion made no mistake in the last frame and clinched it with a smashing 88 knock and climbed two ranks
up at Number 12 spot.
On the other hand, despite his improvements in the rankings, O’Sullivan said, “I'm not bothered where I am in the rankings, the game is going through changes and I'm just going to sit tight and be patient.”
The Wordsley potter added, “I'm not going to go through what Steve Davis and Stephen Hendry have done, trying to compete as they did in their prime. I've accepted that I'm not as young as I was and I don't pot balls like I used to, or like the new players
can. I'm just taking each tournament as it comes and trying to enjoy snooker.”
