Ronnie O’Sullivan reveals health issues he faced in recent season: 2012 World Snooker Championship
Former three-time World Snooker Championship winner, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan successfully made his way into the semi-final stage of the 2012 World Snooker Championship against the Welshman Matthew Stevens and defeated him by the score line of 17-10 at
the Crucible Theatre arena in Sheffield.
After a tremendous performance against the Welshman, the Rocket has booked his place in the final encounter of the game against the former World Championship runner up, compatriot Ali Carter.
Reaching the final encounter of the 2012 World Snooker Championship despite his illness during the second half of the 2011-12 Snooker Season is indeed a huge achievement for the Englishman. However, he is still a bit worried about the number of tournaments
in the snooker calendar because he believes a player cannot spare time for his health and his family because he has to participate in all the tournaments.
Meanwhile, he revealed about the health issue he faced earlier in the second half of the season which made him pull out of the 2012 Haikou World Open. He suffered from glandular fever in the beginning of 2012 while he took part in the 2012 German Masters.
Before he could rest a bit and get some treatment, the 2012 Welsh Open started and he had to play.
After the Welsh event, the doctors advised him to take complete rest and stay away from the game and the Englishman had to pull out of the 2012 Haikou World Open snooker event.
Speaking to the media, O’Sullivan said, “I have been to events I wouldn't have for fear of getting fined. In November, I had to get to a PTC (Players Tour Championship) event in Sheffield when I knew I had to go but felt terrible after a run of travelling
and late nights. I went, and collapsed in a hotel room on the Wednesday. I was so ill I had to get home.”
The Wordsley potter added, “I probably shouldn't have driven, and got the train, but I wanted to get home. I was close to falling asleep at the wheel. That is very dangerous.”
The Englishman is now looking forward to give his best in the final encounter against the Captain Ali Carter. The clash seems a tough competition because both cuemen are performing impressively.
