Ronnie O’Sullivan says Kacper Filipiak will become a world champion one day – Snooker news
The Polish teenager Kacper Filipiak has been tipped for greatness by the three-time world champion, Ronnie O’Sullivan.
The 15-year-old, Filipiak, who is representing his country Poland in the 2011 PTT-EGAT Snooker World Cup, defeated the current world champion John Higgins on Tuesday, July 12, 2011 and the current world number 8, Stephen Maguire.
Though Poland lost an overall best-of-five match by a frame score of 3-2 but it was an accomplishing performance from the young lad.
He held his nerves and knocked in a classy break of 69 in the opening frame to outclass the reigning Crucible King, Higgins before rolling in another 50 to down Stephen Maguire.
The Rocket, O’Sullivan, watched the match at home and he reckoned Filipiak has the spark in him. O’Sullivan believes the teenager will one day rule the world of snooker.
“Tip for you all, just seen this 15 year old from Poland, he will be world champion. He is playing for Poland in the world cup now, check him out :) nice player,” Ronnie wrote on his Twitter page.
The current world number two, Higgins, was impressed by the teenager as well, as he also said Filipiak reminds him of Stephen Hendry, who is a seven-time world champion and is widely known as the greatest player of all times.
Higgins added Filipiak is probably the best player he has seen so far in this tournament.
While speaking on his inclusion, Higgins stated, “He looks very serious and probably reminds you of a young Stephen Hendry. He's improving and doing so very quickly - he's probably the best player of the tournament so far. He didn't look like missing.”
The Livewire, Stephen Maguire, in the meanwhile shared his feelings as he remarked Filipiak has a great talent. Maguire believes Filipiak has nerves of steel, as he knocked in a 69 and a 50 in just two frames against two of the snooker’s best.
“To see him knock in a break like that in one frame against John says a lot about his character, his bottle and that he's not letting the nerves get to him,” he said.
