Ronnie O’Sullivan trashes Ali Carter to lift 2012 World Snooker Championship title
Proclaimed to be the naturally most talented snooker player of the world, England’s Ronnie O’Sullivan clinched his fourth World Championship title after he claimed a tremendous victory by the score line of 18-11 against compatriot Ali Carter in the final
encounter of the 2012 World Snooker Championship at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The spectators present at the Crucible arena witnessed some outstanding game play between both potters as each of them tried his best to hit the lead first in the opening session of the match. However, the Essex Exocet was able to grab the match victory
with his classy display of scintillating snooker skills on the Crucible baize.
The opening session of the game was quite tussling as both potters went neck-to-neck to secure an early lead. However, with a sensible display of his snooker abilities and some cracking knocks of 56, 117, 52, 92 and 141 points, the Magician was able to hit
the lead by the score line of 5-3.
The frame scores of the first sessions are: 77-37 (56), 121-1 (117), 0-85 (84), 24-58, 86-42 (52), 2-55, 108-0 (92) and 141-0 (141).
Carter bounced back into the game in the second session and moved one frame up at 5-4 after winning the first frame of the session by 8-84. Nevertheless, his attempts did not work in his favour as O’Sullivan clinched five more frames to reach 10-7 score
line.
The frame scores of the second session of the game are: 8-84 (56), 70-21, 69-14 (68), 30-62, 73-7, 60-13, 1-83 (59), 74-34 (62) and 3-52.
The first four frames of the third session of the match were dominated by O’Sullivan again as he clinched them quite easily to extend his lead to 14-7. Carter did comeback with three consecutive sets but was not enough from him. The third session went to
O’Sullivan’s favour and he kept his lead with 15-10.
The frame scores of the third session are: 101-0 (101), 73-12, 62-48, 81-41 (54), 9-59, 34-105 (105), 5-62 (53) and 129-4 (64, 55).
Carter was under immense pressure as he went into the dressing room to get ready for the fourth and final session of the game. The final session of the contest began with a classy clearance of 70 points from O’Sullivan as he took the first set of the session
by 92-0.
Carter missed his chance once again to bounce back into the game and tumbled down. The rest of the session was a piece of cake for the Essex cueist as he needed only two frames which he took in no time to ensure his victory and lift the world title.
The frame score lines of final frame are: 92-0 (70), 9-78 (64), 76-0 and 82-0 (61).
Both O’Sullivan and Carter were together in the World Snooker Championship finals for the second time in their career. Previously they met in the ultimate clash of the 2008 World Snooker Championship where O’Sullivan was victorious by the score line of 18-8.
History repeated itself this time and the Rocket cruised to victory.
The final of the World Championship was Carter’s 12th attempt in any major event to defeat O’Sullivan but he failed to do that. During his final run, the Wordsley cueman, O’Sullivan, fired a terrific clearance of 141 which is the highest break
fired by any potter ever in a World Snooker Championship final match.
