Ronnie O’Sullivan trashes Dominic Dale, 10-2 – 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship
The Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan, has trashed the Spaceman, Dominic Dale, by a frame score of 10-2 in the first round of the 2011 Betfred.com World Snooker Championship, which is being staged
at the Crucible Theatre, Sheffield, England.
Three-time world champion, O’Sullivan, who lost all opening round matches of his last four ranking events, was pretty doubtful this year. This is probably the reason he has not entered
the Crucible Theatre as one of the favourites for the first time. However he has now proved himself once again to everyone with his magnificent play.
The thirty-five-year-old Englishman, O’Sullivan, was almost unstoppable, as he showcased three superb century breaks of 100, 113 and 115. Moreover, he also attempted two 147 breaks in
the second and the seventh frame but unfortunately missed.
In his first 147 attempt he potted nine reds with eight blacks before he lost position to come up on for the ninth black and then he did twelve blacks in his second attempt but unfortunately
again he went out of position on the thirteenth red.
"Today, I was disappointed. I wanted more frames and I've never felt like that before. Even when I was leading Stephen Hendry 16-4 [in the 2004 semi-finals] I had doubts about getting
over the line, said the delighted O’Sullivan."
O’Sullivan, who withdrew from the World Championship before changing his mind in the last 24 hours, less than two week ahead of his meeting with Dale, said he can still add to his three
world titles, but will quit if he stops enjoying snooker.
He went to Dr. Steve Peters, who is a psychologist to Britain’s highly successful Olympic cyclists, before the World Championship for finding a solution to his frustration and the results
have come quite positive for him.
"I have kept battling and battling. When you love something so much it's not always winning. It's about just doing it."
Ronnie O’Sullivan has now set up a potential clash with former 2005 world champion, Shaun Murphy, in the last-16. Let’s see who smiles at the end of the match because Murphy has also had
a very impressive season so far.
