Ronnie O’Sullivan wants to be treated fairly by World Snooker – Snooker News
Winner of the 2012 German Masters snooker event and the reigning World Snooker Champion from England, Ronnie O’Sullivan is on the peak of happiness after clinching the 2012 World Championship title beating the Captain Ali Carter by the score line of 18-11
in the final encounter at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield.
The Essex Exocet showed great determination throughout the 2011-12 Snooker Season and was able to regain the world title after a superb run in the mega event.
However, at the same time the legendary cueman does not seem happy with the proceedings of the snooker governing body, World Snooker on the issue of more snooker events in the calendar. The World Snooker Chairman Barry Hearn has a couple of new snooker events
in the pipe line after which the players will be very busy throughout the year participating in more than 30 events.
World Snooker has already announced the commencement two new major ranking snooker events in China this year which include the International Snooker Championship and the Wuxi Classic. Besides, they will be adding three more Players Tour Championship (PTC)
events in the series.
The new snooker calendar will produce a tough schedule for the potters and O’Sullivan believes this an unfair deed against players like him who have domestic responsibilities to spend time with family matters and always comes first.
The four-time World Snooker Champion said to the local media, “I know there's still a bit more in the tank for me in snooker but certain people need to start doing the right thing. It's up to the governing body to treat the players right and say that they
don't expect the players to travel to 28 tournaments a year.”
The Rocket added, “I'm prepared to work as hard as anyone but I just want to be treated fairly and I think the top players need to be treated fairly. If players don't play in the minor events, you know they're going to drop out of the top 16 and you know
they're going to have to qualify for tournaments.”
O’Sullivan has expressed that he will take part in selective snooker tournaments no matter what World Snooker do about that.
