Ronnie O’Sullivan will not quit snooker, says John Parrott – Snooker News
At the end of the 2012 World Snooker Championship, the eventual winner of the mega event, the Rocket, Ronnie O’Sullivan hinted about his retirement but afterwards he revoked his decision. This was another statement of his about leaving the game. Before that
he announced his retirement a couple of times during the last snooker season but every time he took it back.
However, many of the leading snooker players liked O’Sullivan on the table and they believed that the Rocket will never leave snooker. Former World Snooker Champion and one of the best potters of his time, John Parrott also has a firm belief that the Essex
Exocet, O’Sullivan, will never quit snooker. He reckoned that the four-time World Snooker Championship winner loves the game a lot and cannot stay away from the table.
While speaking to the local media, Parrott said, “I think he loves the game too much. He practices very hard when he’s playing and he still loves the game – he just wants to play a little bit less. He wants to play in the important ones. It’s a bit like
when Tiger plays Golf he plays in the ones he wants to play in. I don’t know if that’s going to work out because of the rankings points’ situation.”
Recently World Snooker Chairman, Barry Hearn announced that the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association (WPBSA) added some new events in the calendar including three Asian Players Tour Championship (APTC) events. Many potters disliked this new
addition but Parrott has backed the decision believing that this initiative will help snooker grow across China and the globe. The additional events will help cultivate new players from around the world capable of competing with some of the top guns in professional
snooker.
He said, “I’m reading that snooker is on the curriculum at school over there.”
O’Sullivan did not like the new addition and decided not take part in the early snooker events. The Englishman has not signed the contract with World Snooker which was not taken as a good gesture by the association. It will be interesting to see what O’Sullivan
decides to do as the fans are looking forward to seeing him in action this season.
