Ronnie O’Sullivan wishes to buy sports psychiatrist Steve Peters – Snooker News
The 2010-11 Snooker Season was one of the worst seasons for the four-time World Snooker Champion from England, Ronnie O’Sullivan as he was not only unable to win any major or minor ranking snooker event but also performed poorly and crashed out of initial
rounds of many tournaments. The Essex Exocet was at the brink of quitting the game and even hinted his retirement during his season run.
Due to his unsatisfactory performance, O’Sullivan went down in the overall world rankings and was on the verge to crash out of the World’s Top 16. However, before he could make a hard decision, the Rocket decided to fix his game and get back into the sport.
He decided to face the challenges and visited Dr. Steve Peters, a sports psychiatrist who is currently working with British cycling team.
The 36-year-old began his 2011-12 Snooker Season campaign after he was treated by Steve Peters. His first appearance was in the 2011-12 Players Tour Championship (PTC) Event 1 where the snooker fans around the world witnessed a classy comeback of the Magician.
O’Sullivan fired some outstanding snooker display at the event and grabbed the PTC Event 1 title.
Due to Dr. Peters’ impressive contribution and dedication, the Wordsley potter was able to return to the game and finally lift his fourth World Snooker Championship title. The Essex cueist believes Dr. Peters has played a major role in his recovery and if
he could, he would have bought him forever.
While speaking to BBC after his final match, O’Sullivan said, “If I was Man City I would go and buy him. He's helped me understand that my brain is a machine and if you manage it you can do everything you want to. Deep down I love to play snooker but I've
got too involved in it. I live and breathe this game and I was too wrapped up in trying to be perfect.”
The former UK Champion added, “You can't be perfect, but as long as you give it your best that's all you can do. He's enabled me to be happy in my life and enjoy my snooker as well.”
O’Sullivan has now improved his ranking and will enter the new snooker season with more confidence and high aims.
