Ronnie O’Sullivan withdraws from German Masters, Berry Hearn not happy – Snooker news
Ronnie O’Sullivan has withdrawn from the German Masters reasoning illness which Berry Hearn has described as a very sad move.
Hearn has been noticed getting quite impatient with the controversial behaviour of the former world champion. Ronnie had already pulled out of the Shanghai Masters and on the other side, he has also missed ten tournaments out of twelve.
World snooker chief Barry Hearn has said that he is not bothered if Ronnie O’Sullivan plays the tournament or not, but what he does not like is that he just simply cannot enter or leave any tournament at the last minute. He also commented about the
posters of Ronnie O’Sullivan who after this are placed almost everywhere in the Germany showing his disappointed or least bothered face.
Hearn said that they want to develop the European market for snooker and this tournament is very important for it. Ronnie is liked by many snooker fans all over the globe and an awful lot of people are going to get disappointed by his absence.
Ronnie O’Sullivan’s ranking has fallen down to 10th spot now and the reason found to be is not showing up in various minor events that were held this season.
Hearn also said that Ronnie just cannot keep doing it he is very much liked by the people, but he should now start taking the game seriously keeping his considerable future in front of him and should show responsibilities towards it.
Other than this withdrawal from the German Masters, he previously has also been found showing irresponsible behaviour like conceding a match to Stephen Hendry when the scores were 4-1 and the game had almost started. He was fined for it and was questioned
a lot by the media as well, as there were many of his fans sitting who only had spent money and were there to watch his game.
Another example is the World Open in Glasgow, where he made a 147 break but initially refused. He said he had told Berry Hearn that this could be his last frame ever. Former world championship winner Mark Williams also criticised him on this behaviour
and not potting the black ball there could have led him to disciplinary actions.
Ronnie at that time said the prize money of 4000 pounds, was not enough. He said he would have proved his point, if he had not completed it. He also said that he could give that much money as a charity because that was not a prize worth it.
These controversies have been a reason for Berry Hearn’s disappointment. However, we hope that Ronnie O’Sullivan realises that and shows more responsibility and professionalism for the game.
