Rookie Chandler Parsons stars as Houston Rockets thump Charlotte Bobcats 82-70 - NBA Recap
Accurate shooting is one of the prerequisites for winning an NBA game, but that was proven wrong on Tuesday night, when despite an erratic shooting and committing 22 turnovers in the game, Houston Rockets still managed to down
Charlotte Bobcats rather convincingly 82-70, to augment their record to 3-6.
Rockets shot only 38.6% from the floor including 6 for 17 from the long range.
"Sometimes in the NBA you've just got to win ugly, "Rocket’s coach McHale said after the game. Believe me that was ugly for both teams out there, but it was prettier for us and I was happy for our guys.
Rookie Chandler Parsons led the Rockets offence with a game high 20 points and 7 boards. Kevin Martin, the second highest scorer pounded 17, but struggled with the shooting (5 for 19) while Jordan Hill came off the bench and registered
a double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.
Although Rockets were poor with their shooting, but on the other hand, Bobcats were even worse. They struggled throughout - missing even the easiest of the shots and in the end, were only 30-for-88 from the floor including 1-13
from downtown.
“I thought we were tired and couldn't really do anything, couldn't execute, couldn't run, couldn't defend," Bobcats coach Paul Silas said. It's just one of those nights. Even layups. We had shots right at the hoop but we couldn't
convert.
Reserve Byron Mullens paced the Bobcats with 15 points and 10 boards including 5 for 11 from inside the arc. Gerald Henderson and D.J Augustin struggled to find the baskets regularly and finished with 12 and 11 points respectively.
Rookie Kemba Walker missed a double-double and finished with 9 points and 8 rebounds.
Bobcats showed better attack in the first frame and finished it with a 3 point lead 23-20. Rockets, however did not let them run away with the show and after slashing the deficit and making it 31 all midway through the second frame,
they rattled a 12-2 spurt to get control of the proceedings.
Bobcats in reply, finished the frame with a 6-0 run to enter the second half, only behind by 4 points 39-43.
Rockets started the third frame with a 9-2 run, capped by Parson’s powerful jam to again land themselves in the commanding position at 52-41 and this time, they also strengthened their defence to make sure, Bobcats don’t find a
way to make a comeback. The lead had swelled to 14 points 67-53 by the end of the frame.
Bobcats failed to find inroads throughout the deciding quarter and lost the game with a double digit deficit in the end.
