Rookie Euphony Asse-Lennik looking forward to second home win
Belgium’s top club team and Rookie Euphony Asse-Lennik is looking to claim success in the second home game scheduled on Tuesday evening.
The Belgian will host powerhouse Zenit Kazan from Russia in the fourth leg of 2012 CEV Men’s Champions League Prelims. The “SportOase” in Leuven, Belgium is all set to host the cracking action of volleyball. A large number of home supporters is expected
show up at the match venue.
So far, the Belgian team has played three matches. They opened the prelims on a winning note and seized victory in opening match. They were challenged by Romanian Remat Zalau, who travelled all the way to Leuven to play the match. The same SportOase arena
provided the ground for that match. Belgium played under the tag of host team and overpowered visiting team. Nonetheless, it was long gruelling battle which spanned over five sets. Euphony put up a great show of volleyball and pulled up win.
In the next two weeks, Euphony stayed away from home courts and suffered the loss of two matches in row. Belgian ‘force’ headed to Polish City Friedrichshafen and contested its skills with the Poles. Despite great effort, Belgium could only claim one frame
in the four-set game. VB Friedrichshafen emerged as better team and sent Euphony to first loss in the tournament.
The third leg of the 2012 CEV Champions League brought the toughest challenge for Euphony as they met the top team of Pool B. Russian Zenit Kazan posted 3-0 win over Belgium while playing in front of the home audience. The Rookie Euphony gave a good competition
to opponent but could not avoid the chances of defeat. It was the second straight loss for Belgium at the prelims.
Both matches that Belgium dropped were away from home. In the fourth week, Euphony is scheduled to host the second match of preliminary round-robin on its home soil. However, the opponent will remain unchanged. Once again, the Belgian Rookie will have to
cope up with the power of Zenit Kazan.
The team will be playing under the supervision of Dutch Head Coach Marko Klok, who recently led the team to success at a national league match. The Belgian mentor has worked on the flaws of his team and the team is likely to turn the game in its favour this
time.
He was very much satisfied with the effort that his players put in the last match in Kazan, but he only regret the chances they did not exploit in the last two sets of the match that could have been changed the whole scenario.
Nevertheless, the team has one more chance to prove its endeavours by scoring win over Russia in the next match. Zenit KAZAN is unanimously considered one of the top contenders for the European title but Belgium also wants to go to the finals.
This is indeed going to be a very interesting match. Let’s see how it turns out to be.
