Rookie WR Derek Session replaces OL Paul Madsen on Buffalo Bills roster -NFL News
The Buffalo Bills have made some adjustments on their roster to accommodate the arrival of an undrafted rookie free agent wide receiver.
Bills said they have released rookie free agent offensive lineman, Paul Madsen, to create space on their roster for rookie receiver, Derek Session, who signed with the team on Wednesday, May 30.
Terms of Session’s deal have not been made public by any of the stakeholders. This includes value and tenure of the contract.
Bills started organised team activities (OTAs) from Tuesday, May 29, and are said to be addressing the players’ need at every position and strengthen them with signing of the draft players.
Madsen was rather unfortunate to have been let go without getting any real chance of playing for the side.
According to Bills’ managers, the change was needed to adjust the addition of the new player on the active roster.
Session turns out to be the only significant signee by the team this week. This comes after the player participated in the rookie minicamp and initial couple of days of OTAs.
The team is said to be aiming signing of all the rookies, who were picked in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft, held from April 26 to 28, before training camp.
The new collective bargaining agreement (CBA) between the NFL and NFL Players Association (NFLPA) has sped up the process of locking in the draft players.
Before the enforcement of the latest CBA, many teams intended to drag on the process of landing contracts to rookies until training camps and even beyond.
Now almost all teams try to be done with the draft players’ contract swiftly, and well before training camp.
Bills have already announced schedule of this year’s training camp. The camp due to be held at St. John Fisher College in Pittsford, will open on July 26 and close on August 14.
A night training session is scheduled on the last day, August 14, before the team heads to play preseason games.
