Rookies reach Dallas Cowboys’ training facility for three-day minicamp – NFL News
As many as 27 rookies reported at Dallas Cowboys’ training facility on Thursday, May 03, 2012, to attend the team’s three-day minicamp for rookies to be started from Friday.
The rookies include seven players who were selected in the 2012 National Football League (NFL) draft and 20 other players who were not able to attract any team’s attention during the draft. Cowboys selected the undrafted free agents after the three-day draft.
Those who were selected during the draft include cornerback, Morris Claiborne (sixth overall pick), defensive end, Tyrone Crawford (81st overall pick), linebacker, Kyle Wilber (113th overall pick), safety, Matt Johnson (135th
overall pick), wide receiver, Danny Coale (152nd overall pick), tight end, James Hanna (186th overall pick) and linebacker, Caleb McSurdy (222nd overall pick).
Unfortunately, Cowboys first-round pick, Claiborne, will not be able to attend the minicamp as he had suffered a wrist injury and in order to treat it he underwent a surgery early this year.
It will take around a couple of more weeks before Claiborne gets completely fit. He is expected to participate in the team’s training session along with all other players.
However, he is a bit dejected for missing the minicamp, which would be the first opportunities for all the rookies to get to know each other.
According to the details present on the team’s website, he said of missing the minicamp:
"Yeah it didn't really hit me until I got here and saw the other guys. It brought the competitive nature out in me. I don't want to be held back. I can't get out there and do what I do."
Meanwhile, Crawford has also shared his experience of being a Cowboy. He was excited and nervous at the same time to be in the team’s facility.
However, that attitude did not bother him as Crawford claims to be performing at his best when he is nervous.
He said:
"Yeah I'm nervous. But I always have nerves. I'm nervous any game. It goes away quick, but I think I perform my best when I'm nervous."
He added:
"I could just feel the energy that comes through this building. I'm just excited to get going and seeing how everything goes."
