Room decor ideas?

I'm moving to an apartment, and my room is going to be in the basment. i don't have a door, not a lot of privacy, i can't paint the walls of damge them at all. I want a room with more of the grungy dark unique look but how am i supposed to do that without being able to paint or have privacy? also the room is really small.

I would by fabric and a rod to make it look like a door this way you could have some privacy, get a colour that is bright

since it's in a basement you probably wont have a lot of light , if you go to Value Village probably you'll be able to find some fabric or even drapes ,then get some  hooks from 3M to hang a lot of pictures ,they don't leave any holes  you just pull on the tape and they release.
