  2. I stayed once (2002) at the Hotel Nievre, which is very close to Gare de Lyon (in a small street full of little hotels) and which is fairly nice and clean... The only reason for which I didn't stay there the entire week is because they didn't have rooms with shower and WC available anymore, but if you don't mind sharing the toilette and the WC -- which by the way were very clean, I must remark -- with the rest of the hotel then this is a very good place for you.

I only paid 36.59 EUR (approx. 50 US dls.) for 1 night in a single room without shower and WC, it only had a sink but it was ok. Mind you, that was a few yrs ago so they must be around 40 EUR per night by now. You also have the option of getting continental breakfast served every morning for some extra euros. They take credit cards. The rooms with shower and WC were a little bit more expensive than what I paid but it was still a good price and the hotel is very silent, and the rooms have a fair size (spacious enough for me, at least!).

If you want something a bit more expensive: There is a 2-star hotel located right on Rue de Lyon, called "Hotel Adriatic".... it's only 1 1/2 blocks away from the train & metro station (Gare de Lyon) which is a great location, and it's close to several restaurants and small shops - even a supermarket - where you can get the basics to eat if you don't want to pay a restaurant. The price I paid there in low season was 51 EUR (approx. 68 USD) and 56-60 EUR (78-80 USD) in the summer of 2007 per night single occupancy, and you can get continental breakfast for extra 8 EUR. They have their own website so you can check for availability there....
