my grandma and i are giving my room a makeover. i'd like 1 color for the walls, maybe orange, but in different shades. do you know what i mean? well, i need some ideas. i don't want it to be a solid color, but i don't want to regret painting my walls with some dumb, ugly design. have any of you seen the movie "picture this" on abc family? last night was the primere. well, if you look closely to her room, all of the walls were different. anyone who understands me, please help me.

  1. maybe a lite color like peach lite purple or aqua if you dont like that go to martha steward .com

  2. Well when i got my room decorated i got 1-3 rolls of wallpaper of white paper and then i got some more wallpaper with a pattern on and used that as a feature wall.

my colours are pink, black, silver and white and that looks seriously GLAM !!!!!

  3. i know what your saying. i think you should maybe paint 3 of you walls orange, and then wallpaper 1 wall with a cute pattern or something. i dont think all the walls should each be a diffrent shade of orange.

  4. If you like orange (which I think you'll find to be overbearing on a small room) why not get two or three shades and do vertical stripes? Or you could do stripes of different colors--find some that you like that mesh well together and devise an alternating pattern of lines (or even a unique asymmetrical design) to make your room reflect your taste.

I really do think that if you paint it orange you'll regret it...but why not use one of those virtual "room paint designer" programs to know for sure. Sherwin Williams has one that is pretty good, the main drawback being that you can't use it to do designs of any sort.

  5. green

  6. A current trend that would work for you is the really wide stripes on the wall. Like you would take the orange you like and then use a peachy cream color to go with it. Paint the whole room peachy cream first. After it is super dry, go back with the blue painter's tape and tape off 8 inch wide vertical stripes on the wall and paint those orange. When the tape is removed, you'll have the wide orange stripes and wide peachy cream stripes alternating.

You could do the wide stripes on the wall your headboard is against and then do small feather-edge sponged on dots of orange on the other 3 walls. I would do them about 1 1/2 inches across (including the feathered edges).

That would be super cute!! If the woodwork trim is already white, then that would be perfect.

    Good luck!! : )

  7. well thats true you should definately paint your room a very eye popping color like maybe a light orange and the buy a circle shaped sponge and dip it into a darker orange color and then youll have polka dots just new fresh ideas well if you need any more ideas then im always here you can email me or something.

  8. play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find something that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

How about four different shades of violet? Like "sensitive tint" (# 6267), "flexible gray" (# 6010), "chelsea mauve" (# 0002) and "soulmate" (# 6270).

You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.
